12/6/2016  Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the launch of a newly upgraded web-based search tool to help connect residents struggling with addiction to treatment. The OASAS Treatment Availability Dashboard application allows New Yorkers to access any service in the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services continuum of care, including crisis, residential, inpatient, and now — outpatient and opioid treatment programs. By using the online and mobile-friendly platform, any New Yorker, including treatment providers, care coordinators, and health insurance professionals, can easily find a treatment bed or other available services, anywhere in the state and in real time.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
District Attorney Thomas Spota to announce Brooklyn-to-Suffolk heroin ring arrests Monday, 11-16 at 11:30 am in Hauppauge

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota will announce on Monday morning, November 16, the arrests and indictments of eight individuals and the seizure of 19 thousand glassine envelopes of heroin packaged for street sale following an investigation by the district attorney’s Heroin Task Force in conjunction with the New York State Police.

The news conference will begin at 11:30 Monday morning at the SCDA offices in Hauppauge.

Exhibits will include the heroin, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, anabolic steroids, cash, assault-style semiautomatic weapons and a defaced handgun seized by task force investigators during the execution of search warrants.

Richard Bruno Jr., 26, of Holbrook, and his crew of resellers allegedly dealt heroin and cocaine in Westhampton, Selden, Centereach, Stony Brook and Babylon town.

Bruno’s 59 year old father, Richard Bruno Sr., who faces drug possession charges, stored much of the heroin in the attic of his Farmingville home for his son.

Bruno Jr. is incarcerated in lieu of $1.5 million dollars cash bail as are alleged heroin reseller Bryan Koppelman, 32, of Selden, and Jonathon Rincon, 26, the Suffolk network’s Brooklyn supplier.  Koppelman and Rincon will be arraigned Monday 11-16 in Riverhead.   State Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro (fourth floor of the courthouse) will unseal their indictments.

IF YOU DON’T DRINK ALCOHOL TODAY

what could your tomorrow be?

Enter the Power of You(th) Video Contest by answering this question with a 15-second Instagram video, and submit it here.

Drinking before you turn 21 can seriously impact your health, ability to get into college and even future employment opportunities. It’s just not worth it!

Your video will be judged on:

  • How well you answer the theme question, “If you don’t drink alcohol today, what could your tomorrow be?” (Your video should focus on underage drinking prevention, NOT drunk driving!)
  • How well you use creativity to grab attention and make a point.
  • Quality of the video (needs only minor audio or visual enhancements to be “ready for prime time”).

The contest winner and the school with the most submissions will EACH win $1,500!

Upload your 15-second Instagram video to our contest page by 11:59 p.m. (CST) on December 20, 2013.  Entrants must be U.S. citizens between the ages of 13 and 18. Click here to read the official rules.
